The Franklin Series was created to take guitar tube tone into the 21st century. Each amp incorporates a Darlington triple stack regulator which creates an equivalent capacitance of 250,000mfd for about 2500 times the filtering of contemporary products therefore avoiding the 20% voltage fluctuation under dynamic conditions inherent in the design of most other guitar amplifiers. The advantages of active voltage regulation in the high voltage power supply of tube audio amplifiers was first documented as early as the 1930s and has been well established by tube HiFi manufacturers today. However most guitar amplifiers still use the ancient Pie filter design for its simplicity and somewhat adequate regulatory ability. The Franklin Series has no set models or features being offered and therefore remains a truly custom amp. Even the above mentioned active regulation can be left out for a more contemporary power supply or switchable Tube/Solid State rectifiers can be substituted if you prefer. The options are almost endless. Rackmounts, poweramps, preamps and heads are all available in either Mono or Stereo. In the end each amp is built exactly as you want. Nothing less, nothing more. Preamps: One or two channel amps each have full tone stacks and DC filaments. On the two channel amps foot switchable channel change is relay driven by a DC power supply for noise free function. 3 and 4 channel amps have 2 complete tone stacks plus a gain control for each channel. Channels sharing tone stacks are panel selected. Resulting selected channels are foot switchable as above. Stand alone preamps have there own power switching, fuses, power indicator and a convenient detachable power cord . Poweramps: New for 2006-Fabamps 3DTone. Each stereo poweramp comes stock with a built in differential center channel output to allow user true 3D sound. No more hole in the middle on stereo settings! 3rd channel output available in your choice of application; line level output, guitar level output, speaker output derived from stereo output tubes or speaker output with on-board extra poweramp. Each application comes with it’s own trimmer for balancing the overall 3D sound. Pushpull poweramps include Master volume, Presence control and Resonance controls plus either a ½ power switch(pentode/triode) or a Pentode/Ultralinear(great for bass amps) switch. SE poweramps include Master volume and Top controls plus a ½ power switch (pentode/triode). Each power amp has separate standby/mains power switches/indicators, a convenient detachable power cord , and on Stereo units a speaker phase switch. An optional Bass design uses Ultra Linear transformers to produce the firmest possible Bass for almost Triode like tone without the power loss. Biasing arrangements are also optional. Either plug and play or if you prefer fixed bias with a separate bias test point and adjustment knobs for each power tube. Test points have a built in conversion(samll value cathode resistor) for testing bias right into any volt meter, no special extra biasing equipment needed!
