Lately Metal music has demanded more gain than in the past was ever thought feasible. The advent of Death Metal music exemplifies this need and has only recently been made possible by amplifier designs containing multitudes of cascaded pre-amplifier stages. Some designs have been right over the top while others have so far proved to be almost impossible to improve on.

The Powerwave preamp requires five tube stages to reach it’s level of overdrive. More than enough for even the most demanding of today’s gain requirements yet maintaining a high degree of versatility, definition and clarity.

Preamps:
Each Fabamps Powerwave series head comes stock with foot switchable* Powerwave and Mesender preamps.

New for 2006, the Brown Boost switch! This effectively drops the high voltage feeding the preamp promoting it to break up earlier and exhibit more harmonic content. This separate switch for the Powerwave dirty channel adds to it’s already versatile preamp assembly featuring a full FAB tone stack; Gain, Bass, Mids, Treble, Sweep and Volume knobs plus a foot switchable* boost.

The Mesender clean/crunch channel accepts pedals extremely well and covers clean to crunch with all the flair of the blackface era and is supplemented by it’s own Gain, Bass, Mids, Treble, and Volume controls. Both preamps come stock with DC filaments to maintain the lowest hum and noise.

*2 function footswitch included.

Poweramp:
The poweramp includes a Master volume, Presence control, Resonance control, Stand-by switch/indicator, Power switch/indicator, Half power switch, external mains fuse, internal fuses(both heaters and B+) and an Impedance selector switch. All poweramps are fixed bias with separate bias test point and adjustment knobs for each power tube. Test points have a built in conversion(samll value cathode resistor) for testing bias right into any volt meter, no special extra biasing equipment needed! Complete instructions included specific to your amps output design.
